    Write a brief discussion on why you have chosen Hospitality/Events and why you have chosen to study at the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School.Identify what motivates you, describing your interest in the food and beverage areas of hospitality.

    Identify a Hotel/Resort/Event Organisation/Convention Centre that you would like to work for , answering the following questions:
     
    1.       Why do you want to be part of this establishment and how do you relate personally to their core values?
    2.       What do you know about the property including brand, star rating, names of food and beverage outlets and style of food served?
    3.       State what you could bring to this property as a food and beverage attendant, stating at least 3 strong attributes required as a food and beverage attendant.

    On Placement
    Evaluate your growth, progression and skill development linking your school training to your industry placement training and experience. Assemble your journal as follows-
     
    Topic 1 (800 words guideline only)
    Describe the training and induction conducted by your organisation for new F&B employees. Focus on the following:
     
    ·         Who provided training (eg Human Resources, F&B Manager/Supervisors)
    ·         Methods of training used (eg on the job, workshops, handouts)
    ·         Topics covered eg. OH&S, Guidelines within your Department to successfully meet the goals, aspirations and mission statement of the hotel.
     
    Topic 2 (600 words guideline only)-
    Using the SMART system, set yourself a goal for your Industry Practicum. Include a SWOT Analysis and report on how you have achievedthis goal during your Industry Practicum. 
     
    Topic 3(600 words guideline only)
    Give an example of  how you contributed to the workplace as a constructive member of the team.  Describe and research how you applied knowledge, skills and abilities developed at the school to the work environment, giving examples of these tasks and/or projects.
     
    Topic 4 (1000 words)
    Research and describe the organisational structure andreflect upon your position within the F&B Department.  Identify the personal growth and the strengths and skills that you have gained and will transfer to your second Industry Placement.  List your highlights and the achievements you gained during your workplace experience.
     
    PART B- Proof of Hours (See Due Date Above)
     
    Evidence of a minimum of600 hours worked during industry placement,over a minimum of 24 weeks of APPROVED work experience.Please note that hours worked before the official start date of your placement will not be counted.Submit the hours directly via email to:CDP1@laureate.edu.au
     
    Submission guidelines for Part B:
     
    • Evidence of proof of hours can be provided with a letter from your employer, on company letterhead, which clearly states:
     
    • Your name and position
    • The hours in total that you have worked;
    • The start date and end date of your placement
     
    • Alternatively, you can submit a summary of your hours worked provided by your employer.  This document must include all of the information above.
     
    • If your human resource department/employeris unavailable to provide you with a proof of hours, you will need to provide:
     
    • All of  your payslips, showing all of the hours you worked and an excel spreadsheet which lists the hours you worked each pay period, with the hours totaled at the bottom
     
    There is no excuse to not submit your proof of hours.  Failure to submit the Proof of Hours in an approved formatby the due date will incur a $350 processing fee.
