Assignment 2 (60%): Evaluation of Lighting Design. This assignment will develop your
ability to identify and develop lighting design strategies for architectural spaces.
Visit the interior of your nearest McDonalds restaurant. If a McDonalds is inaccessible to
you, contact your lecturer to discuss alternative spaces to visit.
Conduct a critique of the lighting of the space.
Your analysis should include the following:
A brief description of the space,
An analysis of the function of a space, in terms of the visual tasks required,
A critique of the effectiveness of the current lighting, and
A suggested alternative approach.
The aim of this assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of the information for
this course and your ability to conduct your own academic research.
Submit as a fully referenced (APA format) essay of 1000 words.
Word limit does not include referencing.
Assignment 2 due:
Friday 3rd November, 11:59pm
If you need to get your final results quickly (because you are planning to graduate soon after
this course is completed) you will need to submit assignment 2 by 11:59pm on Friday

· A clear and logical analysis based on goodknowledge of course modules and self guided research

A reasonable balance of descriptive, analytical and persuasive writing
A planned organisational structure
· Response all aspects of the assignment instructions
· Good knowledge of posts on theelearning Discussion Board

Pass (50%-64%)
· Knowledge of most aspects of applicable course modules and demonstration of relevant credible research
· Demonstration of academic writing skills, which includes, but are not limited to:
Reasonable formatting (as requested in the assignment instructions)
An attempt to present aspects of analytical and persuasive writing
An organisational structure as expected at a tertiary level
· A response to almost all aspects of the assignment instructions

· Poor demonstration of the capacity to interpret and or follow assignment instructions
· Superfluous use or diagrams, images and/or examples
· Severe word limit breaches
· No clear relationship between your knowledge of light and the selected interior
Resubmissions
Student who failsthis assignment may resubmit within two weeks of receiving feedback. If the resubmission would earn a pass or better, the student will receive a pass (50%) for this assignment.
