Human Resource managers have faced lots of challenges in portraying their leadership skills as they undertake everyday roles in the organization. This begun as a challenge to make when I secured this position in the company. I was in charge of a team of five members and I ensured that all the human resource of the organization was well managed. The responsibilities range from staffemployment, salary and benefits administration, employee assistance, training and development, safety workers compensation and so on which I should ensure go as planned. Ensuring that all my team members are motivated to work and maintain good communication in all human resource activities makes it challenging issue. Conducting a good communication behavioral style was therefore required in most of the situations I found difficult to handle. Employees provide good ratings for leaders who aare responsive in communication (Larry & Brian, 1985).
To be able to work with other employees and my team I had to read and understand their behaviors. This helped me know the best way to work with them and also find a common ground while still maintaining my integrity and individuality. Adjusting my behavior on how I addressed my team mates and other employees was necessary since this was from learning how my preferred style of leadership as a manager came across to other people (Bryman, 2013). Reactions from other employees were discouraging but I ensured that I related effectively as it is demanded by leaders. This all had to be incorporated and aligned in the leadership role which the company expected of me to be able to fulfill the role I was handling.
Communication between employees and my team members was a major issue in the company and I had to use my abilities as a leader to focus on business fundamentals. I required a sense of strong discipline to be indicated from each and every worker under me. I ensured that I nursed the right atmosphere and example myself through my behavior and reaction to each of the employees. I had tio make others admire my leadership by maintaining clear communication and ensured that what I said promoted my values. Communication is a two way process so I learned how to listen from what others were saying to me, empowered their ideas and motivated them to be dedicated in their works through remaining open to new information (Leanne E. Atwater, 2012). Evaluating the effectiveness of each communication was important afterwards so as to use and take corrective actions from advice provided from other staff members. Encouraging respect from each and every employee was necessary so as to create a team that worked in harmony, good understanding and maintained a good interpersonal relationships. Achieving of the goals and responsibilities of human resource manager remain difficult and without the support of all members of the business it becomes a major issue in handling them. Dealing with how best to recruit others, who to be given positions and fixing of their wages makes you remain in direct contact with each individual hence as the organization demands high level of accountability and transparency from me I had to ensure I remain withing the good relationship I struggled to create. I corrected all the poorly defined purposes for communication and established the best medium of communication with every individual in the organization and made it my responsibility to get on the others level of understanding. Channels of communication had to be opened and I ensured that I provided a good working environment (Harris & Nelson, 2008).
