individualwritten assignment
Learning Outcomes which this assessment desires to achieve includes:
GLO 4 - Critical thinking; and GLO 8 - Global citizenship.
Assignment Question:
Provide a reflection piece drawing on your choice of any 3 specific topics from the course. Please address the following:
· Why have you selected these 3 topics?
· How do you perceive that these topics will assist you when working as an accounting professional or leader in business?
· How do you define being a Global Citizen? (linked with cultural awareness)
· How does being a Global Citizen link with your future role as a professional accountant or leader in business? (linked with cultural awareness)
(Total 1800 words).
Personal opinion is required in a reflective piece.
Students are to analyse and provide an individual written reflective piece by drawing from your 3 selected topics. For example, you may include in your analysis a reflection on moral sensitivity, awareness, cultural values or intercultural issues, judgement, decision making, implications of actions on stakeholders etc. or any area from the unit which you consider relevant in your personal ethical journey to date. In your reflection, your focus should be on the development of your awareness of Global Citizenship concepts (for the last 2 questions).
Include in your response a definition of Global Citizenship, and include the various aspects of Global Citizenship in this definition and conclude your reflection by completing the following statement (for the last 2 questions):
‘
As a result of what I have learnt about Global Citizenship within MAA350 Professional Ethics and Governance, I intend to be a Global Citizen by…’ (for the last 2 questions).
Suggestion: Create a journal for your selected topics. You should include entries in your journal on a regular basis throughout the trimester to help you develop your understanding of the Deakin Graduate Learning Outcome – Global Citizenship – and to document how your knowledge and skills in this area can be evidenced. When making entries in your journal, include ways in which you can evidence/prove that you are more aware of Global Citizenship and the impact that it has on your daily behaviour and thoughts.
Deakin defines
Global Citizenship as engaging ethically and productively in the professional context and with diverse communities and cultures in a global context.
Here is a list of questions that you can use to help you reflect about Global Citizenship:
· What do I currently do that shows I am a Global Citizen?
· What do I need to consider when making a decision, in regard to Global Citizenship?
· What have I learnt about a culture other than my own?
· How would I make a decision about something if I lived in another country?
· What would be the decision, and why would it be different to the decision I make about it if I were in Australia?
You could also start developing a table where you document different cultures and their values.

ePortfolios in Assessment
The assignment takes the form of an ePortfolio assessment. In its simplest form, ePortfolios may be defined as
a collection of evidence about what and how you have learnt, including personal reflections on your learning and how it might relate to other studies or your future career path.
Graduate employers consistently tell us that they are looking for graduates who display not only technical skills but also those referred to as non-technical or employability skills. These include communication, self-management, and the ability to work in teams and to learn from mistakes.
ePortfolios act as a record of your individual learning and perhaps more importantly your progress in learning. It assists you when preparing for graduate employment interviews or jobs while you are studying. At Deakin we are implementing the use of ePortfolios in the Accounting and Financial Planning majors. This may be a starting point in creating your own individual ePortfolio. Alternatively, it may build on your previous experience with ePortfolios.
Be aware that your ePortfolio extends beyond the scope of this assignment.
It is your resourceto build and use. You are encouraged to consider entering other ‘employability- related activities’ that are outside of the formal learning of your degree. Employers want to know about these initiatives almost as much as they do about the grades in your degree.
Note
· Online Blackboard Collaborate sessions are available to students to provide guidance on reflective assessment and ePortfolio submission.
· Please check the schedule provided on CloudDeakin for session times.
